HERA International

Since 2005 the Shelter Foundation has supported “Women to Work”, a program that owes its inception to Lynellen Long (formerly with the IOM). “Women to Work” tries to open doors to young women, particularly those women who have been victims of sexual assault and forced prostitution, seeking a path towards regulated employment. An early pilot project in Belgrade was so successful that it became the model for testing similar programs in other countries. From these early beginnings the internationally networked organization would emerge: HERA—Her Equality Rights Autonomy.
In the course of its long-standing cooperation with HERA, the Shelter Foundation has supported projects in Armenia, Georgia, Moldova, Rumania and the Ukraine.
